The creamy and salty brie cheese pairs perfectly with the sweet and savoury cranberry and onion jam, (which, by the way, is ready in minutes). Garnished with a bit of toasted walnuts for crunch and fresh thyme leaves for colour, this appetizer truly is a crowd pleaser. Serve alongside some fresh baguette or crackers, and start off the biggest meal of the year with a great first impression! Enjoy!

Baked Brie with Cranberry and Caramelized Onion Jam
Total cook time: 20 minutes
Hands on time: 20 minutes

Ingredients
-1 wheel of Brie
-1 bag of fresh cranberries
-1 medium sized onion, diced
-1 tbsp butter
-1/3 cup brown sugar* + 1 tbsp
-2 tsp fresh thyme leaves
-1 tsp orange zest and juice
-1/3 cup toasted walnuts
-salt and pepper

*I prefer this jam quite tart, but if you've got a sweet tooth, taste the jam once all the ingredients are in and add 2-3 more tbsp of sugar to taste

Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
2. Place Brie on small baking sheet and cook until soft in the middle, 10-12 minutes
3. In a sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat and sauté the onions until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add in cranberries, 1/3 cup sugar and about 1 tsp of thyme leaves. Cook until the cranberries soften and pop and the sugar is dissolved, about 10 minutes. Stir in orange zest and juice, and season lightly with salt and pepper
4. Transfer the warm cheese to a serving platter, and top with the hot cranberry mixture. Garnish with walnuts, remaining thyme leaves, and sprinkle with remaining tbsp of brown sugar. Enjoy!
